FPGAs
I am currently investigating the use of FPGAs for DATV applications.
Above is a small development board sold by KNJN . The picture shows the
basic Saxo board. With a few extra components these could be used for
caption generators or tescard generators. Larger FPGAs can of course
be used for DVB encoders.
My blog has been a bit sparse recently so I thought I better post what
I have been up to. Currently I am using Verilog and the Altera QuartusII
tool to play FPGAs. Verilog seems easier to understand than VHDL but
whether I have chosen the best one for a hobby engineer I don't know.
