Still no cigar

The SI tables are still not working. I have a set of SI tables provided by
Rob M0DTS and they work.

I have code that provides identical tables, same contents, checksums etc
and they don't work. Obviously I am missing something. I will figure it
out eventually.

On the theme of GUIs I have decided to use QT4 developed by Trolltech
(now owned by Nokia). http://qt.nokia.com/ I am setting up the
development environment as I type so more on that
later.

I have also been looking at all the DVB applications available for Linux.
I just wish I knew what they all did. Hopefully down the line it will be possible
to add receive support to my software using a suitable Linux tool.
I will have to do the demodulator but once I have the program stream extracted
it should be possible to feed that to a 3rd party tool for display.

I am ramping up my enthusiasm for the new UHD (Universal Hardware Driver)
from Ettus Research http://www.ettus.com/

This will allow cross platform support for their products. It will also allow closer

integration between my code and the USRP2. Currently no support for the WBX
transceiver board I use exists but it is coming. So watch this space.

I am always keen to hear from anyone reading this Blog, if you have any
comments,
criticisms, advice or questions please contact me, I don't byte.

  1. Found this on the internet.

    Inserting screenshots and images

Using KDE 3.x and want to insert a screenshot of a program in your document? Make the window you want to photograph active, press Alt+Print to take a snap and place it on the clipboad, jump back to KWord or OpenOffice.org Writer and press ctrl-v. KDE 3.x users can also press Ctrl+Print (most schemas) or Win+Print (4 modifier key schema) to capture the whole screen.

You can not copy or paste between the most important Linux graphics program Gimp and the most important office suites OpenOffice.org and KOffice.

Kolourpaint and all other KDE programs with image support allows you to copy and paste graphics freely.
Tips on copying text with elements and formatting
You can mark a big table of numbers on a website in Mozilla, switch to a OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet and press the third mouse button to paste the table into proper cells. Pasting into Writer creates a table with your numbers. Pretty much all elements on web pages are copied correctly from Mozilla 1.x and Firefox.
But what if you only want the pure text, not all the formatting when copying text form applications who include formatting when they copy text to the clipboard? Simple. Open any pure text editor, meaning any editor without support for such elements. Copy your text into the text editor, the formatting will be ignored simply because it's not supported. Now mark the text you just inserted to get a clean copy of the text.
Fully support elements with cut and paste:
    OpenOffice.org 1.1 and 1.2
KDE 3.2 and 3.3, Kolourpaint and other applications
    Mozilla 1.7
    Mozilla Firefox 0.9+

    Inserts and exports text-only:
    Abiword
    The GIMP

As for info on the D-atv work you are doing you are way ahead of me I have no idea how to even think about writing such a program.
Rob seems to be well ahead in it all.
Cheers and good luck with it all Mark

  2. Hi Mark,

It does not look as simple as windows does it?

I have been writing software for a very long
time (almost as long as I have had an Amateur
Licence). But there is always something new to
    learn.

I have that feeling (Gosh were do I start) every time I look at something new.
